Steve Wamberg has been interested in words since his older siblings acquainted him with the encyclopedia at age 3 so he could read sections of it aloud to entertain their friends. (It was a pretty nifty parlor trick in those days.) Encouraged in creative and academic writing through his school years, Steve turned his attention to writing broadcast news copy while in college, and began editing books in graduate school. As that chapter of his formal education drew to a close, Steve was honored to encounter the warmth and writing wisdom of Madeleine L’Engle through his fiancée (now wife of 35+ years), Annie.

 

After years of writing curriculum, song lyrics, business plans, articles of all sorts, and ad copy, Steve’s writing world was rocked by direct response master Kurt Medina. Medina, famous for Time-Life and Franklin Mint campaigns, had been contracted to coach the writers of the not-for-profit organization that employed Steve at the time. In a three-day encounter, Medina politely demolished Steve’s best direct response efforts to date and gave Steve the practical handles needed to construct copy and campaigns alike for optimized results. The experience transformed Steve into a student of persuasive writing, a discipline with great (and often tangible) benefits for Steve and his clients alike.

 

Steve now applies the principles of persuasion in his own writing for web and print applications, as well as in his writing and editing efforts to transform words on paper into a page-turning engine. He still works in a wide spectrum of projects where words matter, and welcomes inquiries for new opportunities to put it in writing.
